Wild Groves Mandarin Olive Oil Cinnamon Rolls
Soft, citrus-accented cinnamon rolls made with Wild Groves Mandarin Olive Oil for exceptional tenderness and flavor.
Ingredients:
Dough
3 to 4 1/4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup warm milk, about 110 F
1/2 cup warm water, about 110 F
1/3 cup Wild Groves Mandarin Olive Oil
1/4 cup maple syrup or cane sugar
Filling
1/2 cup softened butter, dairy or plant based
3/4 cup brown sugar or coconut sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 to 2 teaspoons Wild Groves Mandarin Olive Oil (optional, brushed lightly over the butter for added aroma)
Mandarin Olive Oil Glaze
1 cup powdered sugar
2 to 3 tablespoons fresh mandarin or orange juice
1 to 2 tablespoons Wild Groves Mandarin Olive Oil
Small pinch of salt
Instructions
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, the yeast, and the salt. Add the warm milk, warm water, maple syrup, and Wild Groves Mandarin Olive Oil. Stir until a soft dough begins to form.
2. Add additional flour a little at a time until the dough becomes smooth, soft, and slightly tacky. Knead for several minutes, being careful not to add too much flour, so the dough stays tender.
3. Cover the dough and let it rest for 5 minutes.
4. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon.
5. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a rectangle about 12 by 18 inches.
6. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the butter. For added citrus aroma, brush a thin layer of Wild Groves Mandarin Olive Oil over the filling.
7. Roll the dough tightly from the long edge to form a log. Slice into 12 equal pieces.
8. Arrange the rolls in a greased or parchment lined 9 by 13 inch baking pan. Cover and let rise for about 30 minutes, or until puffy. If preparing the night before, refrigerate at this stage and let the rolls sit at room temperature for 30 to 60 minutes before baking.
9. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the rolls are lightly golden.
10. To make the glaze, whisk the powdered sugar, mandarin juice, Wild Groves Mandarin Olive Oil, and salt until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls.
Notes
Wild Groves Mandarin Olive Oil provides a natural citrus aroma and produces an exceptionally soft texture in the dough. It is the key flavor component of both the dough and the glaze, and no other oil should be substituted.
